The biggest contributing factor to musculoskeletal neck pain is posture. This is true for disc herniation, osteoarthritis, muscle strain, or ligament sprain.  

 

Neck Pain from incorrect upright and lying postures

The following animation reviews the concept of plumb posture and the many postures we hold through our daily activities that perpetuate neck pain. It is imperative to evaluate neck posture in normal activities and make changes to those habitual postures which contribute to the perpetuation of chronic neck pain or slow the healing of an acute condition.

Neck Pain and Headaches

The following animation reviews headache pain that occurs from muscle tension. Tension headache pain arises at the junction of the neck and skull. It results from sustained contraction of muscles in the area of pain. Posture plays a strong role in the perpetuation of this headache. Work station neck posture is reviewed in this animation.
